I like the layout of the service. I think it's straightforward and easy to use.
I would like to have some abilities that at this point in time the service does not offer. For example, where we can add two people to a task.
Active Collab keeps my team organized on projects in an easy and straightforward approach.
I love using this project to meet deadlines, see where team members are at in a project, and to communicate with them as well.
I cannot think of anything I dislike about the software.
This software really helps with communication. More often then not, a team cannot run successfully without good communication, and that is where this software comes into play.
I like the interface, especially of ActiveCollab 5, which is massive UI/UX improvement over AC 4. The product works and feels like Basecamp, but drastically expands the functions of Basecamp with invoicing, estimates and modules that allow you to increase your collaboration with Slack. It works well out of the box, minus some of the configuration which is really ridiculous in a lot of ways.
I dislike the setup. Setting up cron jobs for the self-hosted option is a bit weird, especially when they won't run due to weird anomalies within AC. In addition, the system also has repeated issues with working well with customization; it's all Active Collab branded with little to no ability to customize colors without completely redoing portions of the system. In addition, we've had issues with the baked-in email system, which we never had an issue with in AC4, but now AC5 is creating way more problems than what its worth.
We have solved a lot of innermost communications changes and have been more transparent with clients. Clients like the ability to pay online. We've also been able to do more with less and eliminate some roles within the typical agency model especially the traffic coordinator as a lot of it is handled as direct interaction with clients.
It's relatively easy to use and has an intuitive interface so even some of our less tech savvy or software oriented team members can use it without an intense amount of training required.
Since it's update I've had some issues with assigning tasks to clients. Typically I assign tasks to both our employees and our clients because we require them to submit a lot of content when working with them. Lately I've had to just include them in subscriptions and it's been a little less convenient.
We have 2 locations (one being overseas) and it can become tricky to effectively manage projects between both teams given the time difference and other normal management struggles. The email alerts and commenting ability are helpful because even if I am not directly involved in a resolution, I can see the trail of conversation on each task specifically. Benefits I've realized mostly is just keeping each task as part of large projects as its own task makes it easy to "cross off" when completed and move on. You can see at a glance what is still pending yet you have an excellent way to dig up old archieved of finished tasks if needed as well.
ActiveCollab is a great platform to manage our projects but without a missing dashboard it is quite bothersome and wondersome as well. We would love to see a great, visually appealing dashboard to view and manage most of the features. A project involves so many factors; from task assignment to tasks completion alongside status, invoices, billing, communication, reporting, transfer of and so on. There are many good platforms out there but none of them offer a complete range of variety which ActiveCollab has to offer, it is your all-in-one solution.
Some people might not agree with me, but visual representation of the data is very much appealing as well as easy to understand in one go, however, the supporting features for visual data are missing here and we really don’t understand why. It is quite an unfortunate situation with all the good features it offers you.
ActiveCollab has been with us for a long time and we love using it to manage simple and complex projects all under one roof. The management of projects is relatively easy as compared to its competitors and people find it an easier option to work with while handling already complex projects. Highly recommended to anyone who is looking for an all-in-one solution when it comes to project management. It not only helps with the management of projects but you can also make the most out of it by handling, billing, invoices budgets alongside clients all under one roof and in incredibly low pricing plans.
ActiveCollab is a platform specifically designed for the planning, execution, and monitoring of all types of projects that require a workflow that produces visibility for all team members, in addition to managing information related to budgets, execution times, deadlines in which each task must be accomplished, and much more. ActiveCollab's interface has a simplicity that allows us to carry out efficient monitoring and automate some tasks related to the execution, thus, we can select, for example, the high-priority option for each task that we need to perform more quickly, which will indicate to the end user that we must attend with high priority.
ActiveCollab definitely encourages teamwork, this is achieved by assigning a project manager who will distribute the rest of the permissions to the members who will participate in the execution, so the people who participate will be able to know what is being done in the different tasks, progress, and completion of activities. On the other hand, ActiveCollab manages the entire process of a project, from the beginning, which is when an idea is generated, to the completion of a final product or service, in addition to the fact that we can invite new team members, or clients through sending an email to our work area and participating collaboratively.
With ActiveCollab it was possible to develop a mechanism to keep senior management informed, since it is perfectly feasible, for example, to create custom reports, apply filters, export that information in a universal format if necessary to other systems, and produce valuable data for the organization. Additionally, it was possible to do an intelligent follow-up from ActiveCollab to have visibility on the personnel that really contributes to the timely execution of the activities, considering the time invested in the completion of the tasks and in general, what is related to the workloads that the resource human can manage intelligently. In addition, its mobile APP allows all task updates to be stored immediately from the place where the engineers produce the information, which facilitates the work of the end user, and all through a more automated registration.
I love that it makes it simple to chat and work together on projects!
I wish I started using this platform earlier.
Working together on projects in real time
Project Creation is easy, Task creation, and Task List Creation is easy and simple, you can get any type of reports, be it resource-based or project-based, this tool covers it all
It's not UX friendly at Project Management tools like Gantt/Timeline, though it creates it, but its extremely hard to follow it. Rest, everything is great.
We are using Active Collab for our Office's project management, Employee time utilization, and task management.
The way projects are organized makes information easy to access for both internal and external partners. Tasks, discussions and notes are all clearly delineated.
While this is a great platform, it can be difficult to manage all of the uploaded files. Having a "files" area where every attachment uploaded automatically appears is great, but the ability to sort them by type would be very helpful.
Active Collab makes it wasy to work with colleagues & customers all over the country. We are able to manage our active projects seamlessly and can maintain all the information in one place.
