I signed up for Algolia's Docsearch product, and it couldn't be simpler. I gave them the URLs to my documentation, and they set everything up and it works like a charm. I also like the weekly reports because they tell me what people search for and what's missing from my documentation. That makes it easy to see which parts I can improve!
Sometimes it takes a while for Algolia to index new pages, but it's never too long.
Algolia makes my app documentation searchable with a nice interface that also blends in well with the design of my documentation. Users use my documentation more, leading to fewer support questions.
Algolia is a must-have when it comes to search and faceted navigation. I deployed it on some project, and all my clients were amazed about how fast and relevant it is. I used it for global autocomplete search, global search experience, and faceted search. It's always a WOW effect. It brings so many features that you don't need to develop that the price is almost a detail.
There are no real downsides. Everything is here to help a freelance developer like me.
Algolia solves all search-related problems. You create your index; it does all the rest of the job for you.
Whenever something is wrong, Clemente immediately follows up with a helpful solution
A little bit difficult to customize docsearch visually
Allowing users to search our documentation
The almost no time when performing a search and the automatic pre-flight request with the most searched terms. With that, the user has the best experience ever The fact that you can have insights for the searches performed by users and based on that you can tailor the results
The documentation on React implementation could be a little bit more updated to the current versions. For example, using hooks instead of classes and have more configuration options for styling and custom components It will be nice to have a sandbox where you can test new implementations, for the moment I'm using a different index with a _dev on the name. Having multiple envoirments or a sandbox will help a lot during development
- Being able to perform searches by locale in no time and have insights on those searches - Having a multi index search across different types of information - Rank the products depending on what users like - On a near future, implement AB test in order to promote products
Fast, on-page results, auto indexing, ease of use to setup and configure. Set and forget searching/indexing. Friendly team behind the product. Makes our documentation shine, by allowing users to find the information they are after. I like how the search results are presented to gives several different focussed results, without being overwhelming to the users.
Nothing really. It does the job for everything I need.
Full indexing and search for a large documentation site. Users can quickly search and see results on the same page, without having to navigate to another page. Search results are listed in the context of the page/topic that they're associated with, which is brilliant.
It is easy to implement complex search features, including faceting, performant autocompletion, and suggestions. The implementation is quickly done using their Instantsearch SDK. The best thing about this is that their Instantsearch SDK lets you easily override the whole Search UI to fit your brand and Components. In my past experiences, I also used Elasticsearch, which is a great Open Source Search Solution. Although ES is very flexible, achieving the same Search Experience as Algolia is a tough road with Elasticsearch, especially for optimizing the queries and the ES architecture. It is also heavier on the maintenance side. Algolia provides a straightforward experience and can even be easily configured by non-technical people (e.g. Synonyms configuration, ranking algorithm, etc.)
The pricing of Algolia can be a bit steep, especially if you want autocomplete or query suggestions as you type, as each "Search Query" counts towards your quota. For this reason, several clients of my company prefer to start with "Search on Enter" instead of "Search as you type" with Algolia.
Mainly using Algolia for Searching through normalized models such as web pages, recipes, user content, etc. Algolia is used on the Frontend for achieving a great Search Experience.
I love how well it integrates with my store and line the results or gives back. It's exactly what I was looking for.
The only downside that I can think of is as my store scales up, I'd have to pay for usage, but the great thing is that I can start low and grow as the shop grows
I added a clean search function for my store that gives customers clear results back.
ux and sdks. Ease of integration. in addition to having the fastest response
The price is a little steep, but depending on the application it is worth it.
smart search and similar words
The documentation is easy to understand and concise, the new-ish pricing model is amazing, the learning curve is straightforward.
Not alot, do you go with one index or multiple? I spent awhile considering that, however your show good examples for both cases in the documentation.
By going static, its making searching my websites so much easier.
I really love how easy it is to implement Algolia, their documentation is really intuitive. Also, I've never seen a search tool with such advanced analytics data and features, as a marketer I find Algolia an absolute necessity for growing and bringing results to business that relies on search.
To be honest, I can't really think of anything that I dislike about Algolia.
Algolia helps me create delightful experiences for my customers, and its analytics tools gives me valuable insights on how I can improve the search experience and bring more results.
