The easiest way to set up an online presence! So professional and creative
Every added feature incurs an additional cost. My monthly subscription keeps going up.
I run and manage my website using Wix.
The default layouts and patterns are simple to use. There are options for customization in every area. The free tools like Subscribe and website insights are nice.
You have to purchase the premium version to connect a domain (even if you already own one). Sometimes layouts glitch and the support team isn't always helpful.
Wix blog platform is good for reaching new audiences and encouraging them to take action (subscribe). It's allowing to find customers who may have not been reached otherwise.
I really enjoyed that there were good platforms to start with and then customize from there. It helps start the process right away.
The blog aspect isn’t perfected yet so it makes it a bit difficult to get the site to flow just like you would want it to.
Becoming more visible
It was pretty easy to use and the templates they had set up based on the type of site I wanted to create were a great way to get my site up super fast.
There were a couple of glitches to where I would create a page and the preview would look good, but then when I pulled it up in a different browser it would look different (example: The title of the page would show up on two lines instead of just one). This was relatively easy to fix though.
We needed to get a basic placeholder website up as soon as possible that conveyed the necessary information to our customers about our recent acquisition. We acquired a company that had zero marketing, and while we're working on combining the two, we were able to use Wix to create a placeholder site. We may even use wix to develop a mock website for our web developers to use to create the new website we plan on making in the future.
It really is simple to build a website--even someone with no web experience can put something together using Wix's predesigned templates. The drag and drop editor it very convenient and you can see immediately how something is going to appear on your page. They provide a lot of great-looking templates and even images and videos .
While it provides a nice starting point, you are fairly limited in your ability to design. Those with even basic experience using coding or HTML may find themselves frustrated because you can't just tweak things with a code. The most frustrating thing I've found is that once you choose a template, you are locked in; you can't switch without completely redesigning the site. That doesn't seem very user-friendly to me. Their mobile designer is also very limited, and for some reason the sites always look AWFUL on mobile until you do a tedious redesign using their mobile editor. You also are very limited with what you can do on the mobile editor. In my experience, it's very difficult to have a good-looking mobile site.
At my company, we need a website design that is easy enough that those without website experience can use it. We work with event teams across the country and our local city directors need to be able to make basic edits to their city pages. Wix has made it convenient because anyone can use it and our webmaster doesn't have to spend the time constantly updating things.
Great site for beginners without a lot of web design experience
Love the layout templates, they are so simple and easy to just plug your information in and go. Easy to upload pictures and make the site your own.
Making a quick website to get my small business up and running when I don't really have the experience to know how to build one on my own or the capital ot hire someone to build one for me. Huge benefit having templates to build from.
So many design options and easy drag and drop builder for anyone not understanding code.
Can not make second tier menu subpages. Can not provide title tags and descriptions to blogs! Must improve for better SEO
Quick and easy website builds. Beautiful and modern looking websites that adjust on mobile and tablet.
I like that Wix comes with easy to use templates that look professional.
I find that sometimes the user interface is glitchy. Occasionally, the website does not look exactly like the preview. The translation of the site from Desktop to Mobile could also use fixing.
Wix has made having a professional website easily accessible for our start-up organization, which does not have a budget that could include hiring a professional designer.
I like how simple the drag and drop features are. Lots of cool features.
There are way too many fee-for-service upgrades. They all start at $2.99/mo-$4.99/mo for each little item. Eventually you're send ing $20/mo just to have a decent interactive website. Feels like I'm being nickel-and-dimed.
It great for an entrepreneurial start up who's too busy to set up WordPress websites
Easy to use platform. You can really put your imagination to the work.
Restrictions to 3rd party apps. These guys just wants to sell their own apps and so ditching 3rd party integrations.
Website designing. You can put your mind to work and get it in live.
There is a good amount of quality templates
On any PC or Mac, the backend can be very slow and glitchy.
Allows suers to build their own website without hiring out the workload.
I used Wix to update and maintain a website for a company. It was simple to update, and enabled us to build a clean, clear, well-working website.
Some of the components were a little glitchy (moving buttons around, etc). That tends to be the case with these "build your own" websites though.
The ability to update and maintain your own website is great, especially when only minor changes need to be made.
I like that is it super user-friendly. I feel like anyone could use it.
The software is a little clunky for people used to other things, like Wordpress
The benefits are building a website on an easy platform.
Easy to use, about as simplified as you can ask of a website builder
Many other websites like this, check all for features you need
Website hosting
I like that there are a ton of options for website creation and you are able to do it all through WIX without having to outsource buying your domain, email, etc.
It felt... cheap sometimes. It didn't have the most beautiful feel always and felt like I constantly had to upgrade to get something more inclusive. There was this constant *upgrade* to do something you need to do, so I did! I upgraded and paid about 150 for about a year or so... and I just don't feel like it was worth it and I also didn't get the SEO I needed to be super successful.
Communication and being able to have a hosting space that looks good and is easy to manage.
The ease of use for someone who doesnt know how to code but needs to build a website and go live with it.
The limitations on creating websites. But of course you will need to know web development to get something truly custom.
I have helped many restaurant clients who use Wix for their primary website to add links and connect them to their online ordering platforms and social media.
Wix has evolved into a very useful website building platform. Throughout it's history, it has remained very simple to use, but more recently has seen significant enhancements to it's power as a business tool.
Some aspects of Wix are a little bit unfriendly to the user. As well, you can expect a learning curve. Although no coding is necessary, to take advantage of the product entirely, it would benefit the user to have some coding ability.
Ability to have a relatively useful website without any major technical skills is very handy. Can control aspects of a website without relying on IT staff.
Easy drag and drop solutions with good choice of templates. Simple and quick to get started.
Limited functionality and branding options until upgraded. By then it's worth it to switch to another platform.
Testing the platform mostly. I was able to do that successfully I feel.
Wix has an easy interface that makes building your own site hassle free.
Unfortunately like its competitors Wix falls short when it comes to offering SEO that is actually good.
I use wix for my own personal business website doing wedding photography.
I love how easy it is to use Wix whether you are a beginner or more experienced. I was able to work with my parents to develop a website for their business that they could go in and make weekly / monthly updates.
At times the tool is a bit finicky and can move images and copy too far from where you intended. There needs to be some more structure in place to ensure that while you can drag and drop content, that it's actually adhering to web best practices.
They are easy to work with and troubleshoot issues as they come up.
